Creative Photoshoots with Beauty Express

In April 2019, I started blogging because I want to document my memorable experiences and thoughts. At first, I wanted to write about my travel goals, itineraries, experiences, and celebrations. Hence, I came up with Hey Life, Cheers!, celebrating every single life event. But I never expected local businesses and co-bloggers in Davao City would reach out to me for collaborations and blogging projects.

I thanked God for the collaborations from different types of businesses — from food to beauty studios & products to events to nationwide company invites. Every single blog is a joy for me.

I also didn’t expect Beauty Express by Sarah would invite me as one of their brand ambassadresses. One of the perks of being their ambassadress is to get discounts, first dibs on their new services, exclusivity, community, and a coupon code for me to share to everyone for discounts (BEXNP190801).

All the perks I received were fun and flattering. But the most I had fun with is the creative photoshoots whenever Beauty Express launches a new service. Below are the two photoshoots I had with them. It was a privilege!

Photoshoots

Every month, Beauty Express posts creative photos each week that are related to a monthly theme. They conceptualize and execute their ideas a month before the posting month. It’s like you’re in a big-time photoshoot studio with all the lights, cameras, backdrops, effects, editing, makeup, etc. Legit productions!

There were two types of photoshoot they usually have:

  1. The Natural Makeup Look. This makeup style can be worn as an everyday makeup look or if there are events.
  2. The Creative Makeup Look. This makeup is the highlight of the photoshoot because this style reflects the monthly theme. They can put whatever they want on the model to show the creativity that’s still related to the theme.

2019 Independence Day Photoshoot

June is the independence month for the Philippines, the month of freedom, so they focused on that main topic. As they looked for models, they’d have to answer this question first:

What does freedom or independence mean to you? If there’s a thing or symbol you can choose for it, what is it?

Sarah Suyom, CEO of Beauty Express

My answer? “Freedom is choosing the right actions that make you a better person. It’s not doing what you want even if it’s wrong. Freedom comes with responsibility. You can never be free if your consequences destroy you. If freedom is a symbol, it would be a weighing scale balance — weighing choices that would lead you to freedom.

I didn’t expect we’d answer such a pageantry question before we do the photoshoot! And since my symbol is Lady Justice with the weighing scale balance, that’s the concept of my photoshoot.

Why Lady Justice?

“Freedom is choosing the right actions that make you a better person. It’s not doing what you want even if it’s wrong. Freedom comes with responsibility. You can never be free if your consequences destroy you. If freedom is a symbol, it would be a weighing scale balance — weighing choices that would lead you to freedom.”

Every single person has the freedom to choose. We get to decide what we want to do with our lives, but most people don’t think about the consequences of our actions and our decisions. Sometimes we think that we are free because no one’s contradicting or preventing us to decide and do what we want. But we never usually expect that the consequences are what bind us, chains us. That’s why we regret in the end.

Freedom, for me, is thinking about the effects of your actions and decisions not just to your own life but how it affects others as well.

Nature’s Predators of the Dark

For the month of November, I was invited by Beauty Express. And this time, there’s no questions & answer portion!

Beauty Express wants to take a walk on the wild side as they feature Predators of the Dark. Beings that look so out of this world you wouldn’t even believe that they exist in the same plane of reality as we do.

This photoshoot highlights the launching of their Nail Gel Polish services! I’m always amazed at how the BE production team conceptualizes something so creative just to launch a new service.

"What are predators without their sharp weapons given to them by Mother Nature herself?"Beauty Express is proud to present our Teaser for our November editorial posts. We love our fair share of the whimsical and the fantastic but this time we want to ground ourselves by gaining inspiration from Nature and Reality but still keep the dark aspect of the month of November. We hope you enjoy and do stay tuned for the pics. ;)Theme: Nature's Predators of the DarkCreative Direction 🎬: Corine Lademora of Beauty ExpressAsst. The Natural Look

The natural makeup look focused on skincare. Long gone are the days of full-coverage and matte-finished foundations. Glowy and healthy-looking skin is taking the front stage this time around.

If you do want to look blemish-free always opt for skincare rather than covering everything up. While skincare never went out of fashion a heavy face base did.

The Creative Look

The predator I portrayed on the photoshoot is the Dragonfish. It’s specimen lined with bioluminescent lights on its body with a large one that dangles on its forehead to lure its prey. We can’t forget its sharp teeth which is its most lethal weapon.

When Beauty Express launched this photo, I was really amazed of the photos. A lot of my friends reacted surprised as well! The results are unique and nothing you expected.
